CAAD - Research - PappPlot

old CAAD Wiki very old CAAD Site

It seems that corrugated board / cardboard has the ability to become a material for constructing architecture. Whether it is used directly for the construction, or in an indirect way to be used as a formwork e.g. for concrete.
PappPlot explores the potentials of this highly sustainable material. Next to the creative approach, there is also an approach in construction technologies: the aim is to set up a machine, that cuts and glues the sheets individually layer by layer. Therefor a PappPlot is related to the rapid prototyping operation called LOM - only using thicker Layers and a different Material. This will result in less resolution and less smoothness but will allow a quick realization of complex geometry in a scale, that reaches architectural scales.
