Poltak Pandjaitan


Poltak Pandjaitan studied Architecture at the University of Technology Vienna. In 2011 he completed his Architectural Studies with honors with the diploma thesis „Das verborgene System“. Between 2008 and 2011 he was a research assistant at the Institute of Concept and Design, University of Technology Vienna. In 2009 he took a leading part of the installation „EZE Eisenwolke“ at the Museumsquartier in Vienna. From 2012 to 2013 he worked as a project architect in Vienna. In 2014 he received the „TISCHE“ scholarship from the Federal Chancellery of the Republic of Austria for Arts and Culture. Since October 2014 Poltak Pandjaitan is a PhD researcher at the Chair of Computer Aided Architectural Design (Prof. Ludger Hovestadt) at the ETH Zurich. His research project addresses the question of spatiality in architecture and how to define space by geometrically mediating between spatialities. Based on interdisciplinary explorations of crystal structures and their specific constitutions, spatial paradigms are examined and implemented in the algebraic framework of crystals.
